The National Broadband Plan (NBP) has finally arrived on Kerry’s doorstep!

The NBP is slowly but surely transforming Kerry’s broadband landscape by delivering quality high-speed broadband to over 27,000 premises in the county over the next number of years. National Broadband Ireland are a wholesale network operator who will be delivering this project on behalf of the Irish government.

Ivertec, in partnership with National Broadband Ireland have been connecting hundreds of homes in the greater Tralee and Killarney areas to fibre speeds of up to 1,000 Mbps at an affordable price.

As Kerry’s local provider, Ivertec were delighted to attend the official launch with National Broadband Ireland earlier this month along with Ivertec customer, Aidan O’Dowd from Curravough, Tralee. Aidan has been thrilled with the new service since it was installed:

“Myself and my family were delighted for our home to be connected to high-speed broadband. It has been a significant positive development for us all. It has also allowed our family to experience a variety of advantages including leisure activities such as streaming.”

The first homes in Kerry were connected in December 2021 with hundreds of homes in the Kilflynn and Abbeydorney areas going live just in time for Christmas. On April 15th over 1,500 locations in the Tralee and Milltown areas went live. Areas included: Ballymacelligott, Ballinorig, Kielduff, Leith, The Spa, Churchill, Derrymore, Castlemaine, Milltown, Nauntinane and Kilderry.

By May 31st a further 2,000 homes will be live in the East Kerry region. These areas include: Kilcummin, Ballyhar, Kilgobnet, Beaufort, Aghadoe, Barleymount, Faha and Fossa.

Kevin Kelly from Ivertec commented:

“The new connection to high-speed fibre broadband under the National Broadband Plan is going to bring incredible benefits to the people of Kerry. We are delighted to work with NBI to connect our customers as part of the National Broadband Plan. We are already receiving really positive feedback from our customers across the county, who are now experiencing some of the substantial benefits of high-speed fibre broadband.”

Apart from providing a first-class fibre experience, being a local provider with local employees adds significantly to Ivertec’s customer’s overall experience.

Kelly continued:

“We pride ourselves in offering a top class after sale service. Being contactable to our customers so they aren’t waiting on hold for long periods of time is a big priority. Having highly skilled technicians based in Kerry also helps, we’re never too far away if a customer needs our help and that’s something that people really appreciate.”
